Hands On Math
My students are working with the same math concept in many different ways.
*Hands on using manipulatives (wooden blocks)
*Hands on using the interactive SmartBoard
*Hands on using pencil and paper
This is a part of their daily success story.

The First Day to Our 2nd Grade Success Story
I wanted the students to know that everyday of their lives is a success story (if they decided to make it one). So they were videoed stating that "Today is the first day of my second grade success story." Now they must live out success daily in 2nd grade.
Question
What are you doing to live out your success story?
What do you need to do to improve your success story?
Each student will answer each of the above questions.
Turn and Talk
In pairs students turned and talked to their partner about good citizenship. One pair made a connection with Chrysanthemum (the book) and good citizenship. This strategy helps students verbalize their thinking before writing their answer. It also helps students see how their peers think.

Math Lesson - Comparing using Blocks
Hands on math lesson. We used wood blocks to compare using the vocabulary greater than, less than, or equal to.
Big Buddies
Today we met with our Big Buddies in Mr. Gilliam's 5th grade class. The experience was really good for my students. They enjoyed meeting their new 5th grade buddies. Mr. Gilliam had the insight to allow the 2nd graders to choose their 5th grade buddy. Each buddy interviewed their buddy to find out likes and then proceeded to tell the class one thing they learned about their new buddy.
Thanks 5th grade buddies
See you soon
